We’re called to be in this world and not of it by Jesus himself. Often celebrities are trendsetters when it comes to new religions or even ancient practices with modern twists. But did you know that there are a handful of influential celebrities who claim to be believers?

Here’s a list of celebrities who are Christians:

Stephen Colbert
How you know him: He’s a comedian who hosted The Colbert Report and has released several books including I am America (And So Can You).
About his faith: Colbert’s is a devout Catholic and he has publicly argued for Jesus’ divinity, talked about Heaven and Hell on NPR, and used his faith as a lense through which he makes his political beliefs and statements.

Faith Hill
How you know her: She’s a country music artist with hits like “Breathe,” “This Kiss,” “There You’ll Be,” and “Speak to a Girl.” Her husband is Tim McGraw.
About her faith: Ms. Hill has said that her faith as her backbone and sharing that her prayer life is what kept her alive when she first moved to Nashville.

Tyler Perry
How you know him: He’s an author, director, on television, and in movies like I Can Do Bad All By Myself and the Madea movies.
About his faith: Tyler has talked publicly about his faith and believes that God uses humor as a way to heal.

Denzel Washington
How you know him: Denzel Washington is an Oscar winning actor from films like Man on Fire, American Gangster, Flight, Unstoppable, John Q, and The Preacher’s Wife (to name a few).
About his faith: Mr. Washington is outspoken about his faith and has said that he reads his Bible daily.

Alice Cooper
How you know him: Famous rock star, Alice Cooper is most well known for his School’s Out and No More Mr. Nice Guy.
About his faith: As a born-again Christian, Cooper has been quoted saying, “Drinking beer is easy. Trashing your hotel is easy. But being a Christian, that’s a tough call. That’s rebellion.”

Kathie Lee Gifford
How you know her: She co-hosted Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee for years and now is on the Today Show.
About her faith: She has spoken about her faith openly and has said that she was deeply moved by Billy Graham.
