One of the Bible’s lesser-known prophets is a man named Habbakkuk. In the Book of Habbakkuk, the prophet poured out his emotions to God. Israel was in chaos, and the wicked seemed to prosper while those faithful to God struggled for survival.
God patiently answered Habakkuk’s complaint. “Look at the nations … and be utterly amazed,” He said. “For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told.” God’s plan wasn’t good; it was going to be utterly amazing.
God has the same amazing plans for you because you are His child. Right now, you might be struggling with a tough or seemingly hopeless situation. People around you may be engaged in sin and seem to be getting all the breaks. God encourages you to be patient and faithful. He may not answer your prayers and questions how and when you want. However, He promises justice and fulfillment of “plans to prosper you and not harm you” (Jer. 29:11).
What is your situation today? Perhaps you’re struggling with a disease or disability. Maybe a friend has betrayed you or a coworker is trying to discredit you. Maybe you are simply worn down from a busy life. Whatever it is, pray about it now. Be honest about how you feel and ask God to give you the grace and strength to handle what you must. Then meditate on verses that remind you who you are in Him. Walk with confidence, knowing He will lift you up in due time.
