Start a Health-Focused Morning Routine

If you’re a morning person, you may already have the perfect morning routine in place. If if you’re a night owl or just looking for ways to improve your health first thing, then this list is for you.

Start the Night Before
To reduce stress in the morning when you feel pressed for time, start getting into the habit of doing a few tasks the night before. These might include packing a healthy lunch, packing a gym bag, picking out your clothes for the next day and even going to bed a little earlier so you don’t feel groggy in the morning.

First Thing in the Morning
It’s important to drink a glass of water when you wake up. This wakes up your metabolism and puts you on track for your full eight glasses. Try adding some lemon, mint, or cucumber to your water to add a little flavor and add toxin flushing benefits. While this may be hard for most, some experts suggest that you should add an additional cup of water for every cup of a caffeinated beverage like soda or coffee.

Consider Going to the Gym
Did you know that many people go to the gym first thing in the morning and get ready for their day from there? Look into local gyms, recreation centers, and even studios (like yoga or pilates) who have a shower if you need it. Many people find that going to the gym this way is the only way they can work in regular exercise.

Eat a Nutritious Breakfast
A cup of coffee and a muffin isn’t going to keep you fueled for very long. If you need the caffeine, try some green tea instead and make sure to get protein like eggs or some lean turkey meat along with a piece of fruit.

Turn on Some Tunes
It is scientifically proven that music has the power to alter your mood. When you’re showering or during the rest of your routine, turn up music that makes you feel good. A positive mindset at the start of the day will help you to make better decisions all throughout the day.

Take a Moment for Prayer
Thank God for this day and for the health you have! Pray that the Lord helps you throughout the day to make good choices that honors the temple he has given your soul.
