3 Ways to Practice Kindness in Your Life

One of the Bible’s most consistent messages is we should all be kind to our fellow human beings. Jesus offers us the most perfect love when we follow him, and our search to be like Christ should lead us to treat others with the same consideration. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be king to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Sometimes, it’s difficult to keep our emotions in check and follow God’s word. Our human nature tells us to be angry, hold grudges, and judge others when they believe differently. The Scripture says otherwise. We are to “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice” (Ephesians 4:31).

How to Practice Kindness

  1. Love everyone, including your enemies. Luke 6:35. We’re told to always do good for others without expecting anything in return. Remember to be kind to everyone you come in contact with throughout the day, even if they’re rude to you.
  1. Be patient. Galatians 5:22-23. We should be willing to wait on others without being frustrated or saying something regrettable. It’s especially important to remember this when dealing with children and grandchildren.
  1. Practice gentleness. Galatians 5:22-23. Some people pride themselves on being “blunt,” especially as they get older. Yes, Christians should always tell the truth, but there is no reason to be coarse about it. Each time you speak to someone, do so tenderly, even when you’re disagreeing (politics included).

Kindness is very important in our Christian lives. These are just a few ways to show His love for others through yourself.
