“Why Did God Create the World?”
Focus on the pleasure God takes in His creations. Explain that God loves to create things and that He loves us. He wanted us to be part of His creation and family. This is also a good time to explain that God gave your child a unique purpose.
“If God Made Me, Who Made God?”
The answer is that God had no beginning and has no end. As Genesis 1 tells us, He always was. We don’t know how or why, but God exists outside of time. No one needed to create Him because He is all-powerful and all-knowing.
“Can God hear me? Does He talk to me?”
Yes and yes! Explain that God always answers prayers, although it might not be in the way we want or expect. Like a loving parent, God says “no” sometimes because He wants what is best for us. He speaks to us through the Bible, sometimes through others (like during a church sermon), or through specific circumstances.
“Where did Grandma go when she died?”
The answer to this question will depend on your denomination’s interpretation of the afterlife. For small children, it may be best to say the deceased person is “with God” and will always be alive in your hearts.
